Short Trip to the Land of Smiles

A very minute decision, clear leaves + rocket high airfare. So we've chosen the top destination highlighted in the newspapers: Bangkok. Hmmm.. now everything is back to normal in Bangkok, very peaceful and cool + dry weather, more ang mo and less Singapore and HK tourists. (probably we purposely skipped Siam Square & MBK).

Back to the same hostel I've stayed a year ago. Only different is now with wife.

 

Day 2 we were on the rocking train to Kanchanaburi, for fresh air and to visit the famous The Bridge over the River Kwai.

We stayed in Tamarind guesthouse. Indeed all guesthouses along the road leading to the bridge offer river view.

Day 3 To Erawan Waterfall. Only went to tier 5, too lazy to reach the top --- level 7.

At night back to Bangkok... the new southern bus terminal is great but far too FAR from city center. No choice but to take taxi. Install Google Maps on my PDA once home.

Day 4 Too good is Saturday. Shopping day. Forget about expensive shops at Siam square and malls. We DONE ALL our shopping activities at Chatuchak weekend market followed by Tesco Lotus at On Nut.
